The kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ Digital Teachers – Classrooms Without Borders Created with Digital Technologies project took place on 27 and 28 April in Rafina, Greece and was organised by one of the project partners, the PARAGON Institute – Education, Technology, Communications from Afissos, Greece. The other partners are Luunja Secondary School from Tartu, Estonia; Yenisehir Anadolu Imam Hatip Lisesi from Mersin, Turkey; and Goce Delcev State University from Stip, North Macedonia.
The aim of this project is to create interactive learning environments and innovative teaching-learning methods based on innovative approaches combined with digital technology, and thus improve teachers' digital competences. The project includes web3.0 Tools, the Steam approach, Robotics-Coding, Virtual Reality-3D Printing and Artificial Intelligence. Thanks to these applications, teachers will learn about new and existing digital technologies and produce sustainable digital content and digital educational materials.
Therefore, the relevant priorities, according to the project objectives, are addressing digital transformation through the development of digital readiness, resilience and capacity; supporting teachers and school leaders; promoting interest and excellence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and the STEAM approach.
At this meeting, the principles and methods of project implementation/execution, dissemination/publication, budget management, LTT mobilities, as well as the risk plan were discussed and clarified.
The Terras do Ave school group was attended by the acting Principal, Professor Alberto Costa, and Professor Clara Verónico, who is also part of the project. The team was pleased with the way they were welcomed and the synergies created with the various participants, especially the host teacher, Nancy Pyrini, who, with her expertise in technological innovations and their application in educational settings and her kindness, provided a collaborative and participatory learning experience at this meeting, based on the perspective of technology in education for the promotion of democratic ideals, freedom and equality.
